Job Summary:
The Economic Development Specialist is responsible for conducting in-depth research, analysis, and planning to support the economic development initiatives of the organization. This role primarily focuses on political science and economic development, with the objective of identifying and implementing strategies to promote economic growth and improve socio-economic conditions within the designated region or community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct extensive research and analysis of local, regional, national, and international economic trends, policies, and best practices.
2. Evaluate the potential impact of economic policies, programs, and initiatives on various stakeholders, including businesses, communities, and individuals.
3. Identify and assess opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and investment attraction.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, businesses, and other organizations, to develop and implement economic development strategies.
5. Provide expert advice and recommendations on economic policies, regulations, incentives, and other factors affecting economic development.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as funding agencies, industry associations, and research institutions, to leverage resources and support economic development initiatives.
7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of economic development programs and initiatives, and propose adjustments or improvements as necessary.
8. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and proposals outlining economic development strategies, progress, and outcomes.
9. Support the development and implementation of marketing and promotional campaigns to attract investment and business development opportunities.
10. Stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in economic development and related fields.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Economics, International Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in economic development, policy analysis, or related fields.
3. Strong knowledge of political science theories, economic principles, and development strategies.
4. Proficiency in conducting economic research and analysis, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods.
5. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to interpret and apply complex economic data and information.
7. Solid understanding of local, regional, and national economic policies and regulations.
8. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
10. Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data analysis, research, and reporting.
